Movements on Moment

Join curators and artists, Chris Bartick and Jenny Casey for the exhibition of their movement-inspired art aboard Moment, a 47’ sailboat. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Friends of Hudson River Park.

Pier 25 is located on the waterfront of Manhattan’s TriBeCa district due west of N. Moore Street. Entrance gate to the exhibit will be on the south side of the pier, across from the soccer field.

Bartick's "Moment of Sailing" paintings are created by the movement of a sailboat and signed with the latitude and longitude of each completion location to record a specific instance of time and circumstance. The work speaks to control vs lack of control as the painter, captain, and human respectively manipulate a canvas, the sea, and life itself through individual Moments of time. Casey's "Melting Thoughts" series illustrates the meditative journey from one expressive thought to another through circular motions. Using a variety of mixed-media materials (i.e plastic, newspaper, tissue paper, etc.) each painting evokes a sculptural feel on canvas.
